xav or dove will tell that audiotool's limiter is wonky. In any other DAW, yes, no device's volume should pass 0 db. But in AT, my first step is turning off the limiter, as it will only clamp down on perfectly fine volume. We all manage clipping by ear, but I'll admit that that track is a bit resonant.
I learned that compression comes before eq to pack everything together before you pick out a frequency you want to shine. It's like packing all your clothes in a suitcase, then picking out your favorite sweater to wear
