k cool, first of all, experimenting with effects and stuff really helps make your track sound more polished, it makes sense that your not using them because you just started, but once you do, i would recommend using the reverb/delay effects, both are really fun imo. For drums something i do is get a preset on the machiniste, then use the graphical equalizer (its under the mastering section) and use it to make the drums sound more muffled, this works really well with lofi imo.
