really enjoying the more ambient stuff NIN has put out. Also realized again how good some of Mark Pritchard's stuff sounds.
Would love to explore that a bit more
I have figured out how to create that bass distortion effect without clipping. Just sidechain compression. You have a bass synth or something, split the signal so you have a clean one and one where you boost the low-end a ton with an EQ or something else, put that unclean signal into the sidechain input of a quantum. Adjust the threshold and such to your liking. You can get everything from warm tape-esque distortion to completely ruining the whole original audio that you are sidechaining.

I hate envy.
I get so pissed at you all that you make great music and the fact I'll likely never reach that level. Pristine mixes, mastering, arrangements, composition, cool chords, melodies, Sound-Design and all that. Meanwhile I'm just this loser trying to create something to fill the void and create a purpose.
