Aren't there some genres that have that exact characteristic? Like Ambient Techno or Ambient House? I swear I'm not making these genres up; I've seen them and tried them out too...

Yeah, I think I'm largely the same. I prefer more of a story telling, cinematic track with an ambient quality compared to an outright raw soundscape
