I've really gained respect for lofi over the past year or so and yeah - this is really nice. had me hooked by the first few chords/bars.
For crit, I don't really do lofi. I'm a dubstepper so you might as well ignore this, but I feel like you could leave the vinyl record loop on for longer or maybe something like that in the background for longer. Lofi (as you probably know since you make it) stands for low-fidelity so it kind of sounds too clear for lofi without something imo.

instead of a 909 can i use the machinest or do I have to use the 909?

add a compressor to anything you want to sidechain, what I do personally is get a beatbox 909 as the sidechain trigger, I connect the 909 to the sidechain input of the compressor and what you do then is play with the threshold and ratio parameters of the compressor.
