I'm so into sharing and openness of audiotool that a track I have for sale is free on here (uninspired love). I don't believe in paying for music as a way of obtaining music. I believe paying is a way to show appreciation to the artist and the current mechanisms ruin that. True artists don't make enough to quit their day jobs and have to struggle to produce. It makes you better as an artist.
They will be developing a "report" button I think, which is sufficient. Remember, these things are not bad enough to ruin audiotool and shouldn't cause you to change your sharing behavior. That hurts the community even more!
True and I think a notification would be easy to set up, they already have links when a remix is made to the original, bit of extra code and hey presto. The minute a remix is published you get a notification. Thing is it's tough for the devs, they've got legal issues to think of as well.
Hehe I'm surely not a programmer. I just wished the devs would step in sometimes. Like Andre commenting on a stolen track or something. That would have an impact right? ;)
I don't know much about programming but checking wave forms would take a serious lot of doing. I think what would be easier is a notification, like when someone uses a sample of yours
And yes this behaviour bugs me! Because it's not only happening on AT! My students are constantly plagirising other people's work. And if I rub their nose in it. The call it coinicidence or even worse: the call me a liar and a big ego.
I blame facebook. But the fact is that everyone wants to be famous and not do anything for it! Pisses me off!
I think the devs should try to remedy this a bit also. Not sure how. Maybe a checkup of the waveform if a track is remixed. If it's to similar it could be flagged?
Then warn them. If the keep on doing it. Delete the whole account. The can start over but they'd have to start from scratch.
