howdy kids. DedheD here to teach you the basics to making your first Trap beat!

1. Start by making your 808. This can be just a simple sine wave, although I like to try different shapes together. Draw out your bassline. Distortion is optional.

2. Volume Automation. If you want to give your 808 a more "released" sound to it like me, simply use volume automation to turn it down a bit.

3. Add a kick. This is where you can throw down any kick you want. For the one I chose, I added some low end to it to give the kick more of a punch. If you want your kick to stand out above the rest of the track when it plays, try sidechaining it.

4. Add a snare. Personally, I like to use the noirblanc snare, the real chunky one you hear in tracks like "rockstar" by Post Malone. Usually, in drum patterns like the one I used, you want your snare to be on the 3rd beat of each measure. It works better like that.

5. Add hats. Preferably closed hats. Put them real close together to get that "sprinkler" sound.

6. At the end of your drum pattern, use another snare on the last couple of beats to add some spice to your pattern. This is optional, but it works a charm if your drum pattern is a relatively short one.

7. Oh shit, it's time to transition to the next phase of your track! Here's where you use a sample, reverb is optional, and use tempo automation to make it sound like it's going in slo-mo and get that detune everyone loves to hear.

8. Are you like Audiotool producer De D. HeD and can't rap? Simply just take a vocal sample in the tempo of your track and put it over your instrumental.

9. Change up that hi hat pattern, you pussy.

And there you go, the 9 steps to making your first basic Trap beat.

serious note: i know i haven't been released anything in a while, but recently i've just felt creatively burnt out. I didn't wanna announce i'm "going on hiatus" or put "(hiatus)" in my name like everyone else who disappears for three days does, but recently i've just found it hard to make anything. I'll try and come back soon tho. -DedheD
