if it was possible to adjust the compression without ruining the feel of the original synths I would have done that but any attempt at messing with the fake ott makes those synths practically unusable

oh, you just gotta find the rms window that works for you, then. I've had a lot of luck with the multiband compressor after figuring that out!
it means you technically have to go a bit softer on attack, but you can use some hard-wall limiting to glue it all together (you can go way more aggressive with the gravity compressor for some reason!)
