It's not a crookers bass, it's more like just a screech bass if anything. Cool idea tho. If you wanna try to make a crookers bass try detune, lots of saturation, and for gods sake take that attack off. Also you got the right idea with band-splitter, make it mid heavy, but not too much. Distort the lowend, and take off a lot of the highs. There are several ways to make crookers basses, but that's honestly the easiest.
