For something to be anomalous, it has to disobey some sort of law of physics, thermodynamics, whatever, wherever science is completely incapable of explaining why. For example, the laws of thermodynamics state that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, yet betafrost can keep absorbing heat and never melt nor feel warm to the touch, even for several eternities, and it has been proven that the energy wasn't stored, suggesting that the energy was destroyed. There is no rhyme or reason that enables betafrost to do that, but... So therefore betafrost is anomalous. Betafrost is a harmless anomaly, up until the point where you ingest it and doom yourself to either live in an oven or die from being frozen from the inside.
