In this technique, a high pass filter is applied to a kick drum sample to boost its bass frequencies. First, the hp filter's cutoff frequency is tuned to the fundamental frequency of the kick drum. Second, the filter's resonance is used for the boost. Play the arrangement and slowly turn up the resonance knob in the Machiniste to hear the effect (useful range between 0 and around 20%).
