I do the same thing for chords, but the lead idea is really helpful

it was really hard for me too. especially making chord patters. I learned by remixing others' tracks. A lot of time for my chords, i look at someone elses track, take the chords, and modify and change them. To make the lead, I just put down some notes that are in the chords.
