i would say mainly mix the drums. add reverb. experiment with stereo. add a vamp section where listeners can tell that the song is transitioning from verse to hook, etc. usually i add maybe 1 or two synths and switch up the hihat flow to do that. and i think it could use an 808 but it sounds fine without. its really just preference.
