You're not wasting your life if you're doing what you want and live your dreams, so, no he didn't waste his life he simply was caught slippin and paid for it with his life sadly.

He was young and stupid. His stupidity got him killed.

He was just shopping for motorcycles and got shot-up on his way, though. Although he did make a plethora of bad choices I don't think any of them caused his death, other than the fact that he was well-known. But I'm kind of uneducated on the matter so I could have missed something. Just putting in my two cents.
