hey whats your recording process for guitar? You using a microphone/amp or DI with effects?
I've been struggling to get a nice tone with DI, wondering if the answer is taking the line out from my amp instead of guitar straight into my interface as micing the amp is not really feasable in my apartment with the noise.
I just DI straight through my interface and run it through an amp sim in reaper. I set the amp sim and record, no effects or anything. Then I import that into AT and play with the mix.
Some things I’ve learned are: trust the amp sim, your guitar mix may have to sound shitty on it’s own without context, know your parts well enough to record it perfectly in one take, and double track all rhythm guitar parts (good rule of thumb is less melodic movement in part- more tracks)
