Sounds pretty good for what it is. I'd suggest a thumpy kick to go along with the percussion layers. And also layer the snap with a clap sample.

  Also the theme of this sounds more sad than dark in my opinion. If it was dark I'd presume there would be more suspenseful instrumentation
