Wow, it's been a while hasn't it, like what? 3-4 months? Still, this took longer but there are good reasons for that. Mainly because manual beat slicing isn't exactly easy to do, very time consuming and sometimes slightly obssessive with the timing and placement, though i often end up putting things at random i still follow an inner instinct in its creation.
The other thing is, i used this as a testing ground, applying some new things i learned:
-Using a High-Pass filter (as an AUX effect) to give the bottom end room to work on, though i used it sparingly
-Instead of using compression as an AUX effect, i applied it very lightly (i hope) into the main output. This goes before the Reverb to "glue" everything together (again, hoping) so that it then recieves a bit of space (the hihats are still a PITA with Reverb).
-Did not use specific, typed numerical values in the Volume Faders nor in the HPF, Compressor or Reverb. Everything was moved and set by careful hand-swipes of my touchpad. It felt a bit more natural and i used more of my ears rather than what i see on the screen.
I still seem to have a bit of trouble with applying effects to my percussion, mainly because i really like the sound of it raw with just a bit of EQ and a tad of compression, though i didn't let it have its own, but rather used the Compressor on the main out. Every now and then i might use some Distortion on a kick, Bit-crusher on a snare, Flanger on hi-hats or Delay on something else, but is till prefer my drums somewhat "pure" in a sense (everyone has their quirks, i guess this is mine).
And i say, i think i do prefer working without the limiter there. Yes i understand i can drive my track into more 'commercial' loudness by using it, but i don't. I don' want my track to sound 'comercial' or 'proffesional' loud, i want my track to sound like i want it to, and that does no include slamming it against a limiter or wat-have-you to give it power.
Wow, that's a lot of typing, i guess i was literarily starved, heh. Anyways enjoy!
