This track started as a small arrangement trying to model the classic sound of a phased string machine as used by Jean-Michel Jarre. It ended being a homage to him and his influence with cover versions of "Équinoxe I", "Oxygène I" and "IV" and "Les Chants Magnètiques I". I kept the classic sounds of the originals and developed the melodies and chord progressions. The Minipops in "Oxygène IV" comes from a free private sample at (link is only visible to registered users) The KR55 in "Les Chants Magnètiques I" was made in Caustic. Apart from the drums and the piano in the last section, everything else is made with the Pulverisateur. Enjoy!
Thanks! Considering that I'm using a modern age DAW, I'm still amazed that Jarre managed the whole album just with an eight track tape recorder and a few monophonic synths, a string machine and a few effect pedals in his kitchen back in the 70s.
Here you have deciphered an impressive amount of sounds and they are all very well decoded. I want to congratulate you especially for the work of deciphering these sounds. This is really difficult, it requires special skills and demands a very high awareness of the sound; The envelopes, the filtering configuration and the harmonic composition of each sound (apart from the chords) -There are many variables.
(for example, although this lead plays high notes, there is a significant boost on its mid low frequencies, around 300-350 Hz I think, that gives it its "creaminess" and separates it from the acommpanying high string sound).
Also, that the character of many bass sounds comes mostly from the shape of the filter's resonance more than from the oscillator's waveform itself, and that many sounds (especially the lead synth of Oxygène IV) come to life by the interplay and differences between the attack and release times of their amplitude and filter envelopes, and of course most importantly by their EQ.
Been waiting for a new one from you mate. Massive sounds as expected. Those rising notes at

are heaven ... Oxygène IV is my favourite part. The synths sound so much like some of pinkfloyds and ayreon synths. Great skills man
