Well, this is still a work in progress. I had a good idea that turned into crap because I ran out of time. It was stressful and pushed me in ways I really liked, but then I basically tripped at the finish line.

I published a few hours over the deadline, and Audiotool team has seen fit to disqualify me in the spirit of "fairness" which is fine. I was hoping my situation warranted an exception. Apparently it does not. But hey rules is rules, right? Gotta have them rules.

I 'dun good, Hasslehoff', and nobody can take away the fact that I tried.

I've learned a lot from this experience and won't stop making music.

Peace

more minor EQ changes, added a "mid bass" sort of....

  • I feel like you could use a good meaty sub under your drops. Especially the first. Doesn't have to be anything crazy, just something simple that fills out the low end and give it some punch

My go to for subs is heisenberg. First 2 oscillators turned all the way up, tune one of them down to -12 semitones, no release on the envelope, give it a little bit of slide (so it moves between notes a bit)

From there it's just doing the necessary EQ, Comp, and panning to work it into your mix

    • Ah okay, I listened to it in my car. But the bluetooth in it is honestly trash and my phone doesn't have a headphone jack for me to use an aux chord so that probably affects a lot haha

And that makes sense about panning the sub and basses, I'll keep that in mind 😂

But yeah I think a mid bass synth would be good. It sounded a lot better when I listened to it in my head phones, but it still felt like it was lacking something

  • The pain of not being able to fully realize your vision for a project is so real .-.

But even if this isn't all you'd hoped it could be, this still goes really hard. I like how much atmosphere and space the track has. I have a bad tendency of making my shit too busy or closed off, which I've been trying to work on some haha

Your basses and synth pads are really good. And I like your build-ups a lot, especially the one starting around 2:57
