Incredible bass and reverb design, i just love this atmoshere, in my mind it's exactly what you describe !

Close your eyes and imagine a diver, drowning in the deep blue. Bubbles rising around. Slowly blue turns to black and the diver disapears in the deep. All that is left is his heartbeat.
Then, out of the black, the divers siloutte returns and he's rising into the light...
