Problematic: When using a typical hat-clap combination of the house it happens that it is already in the clap or the hat does not adjust perfectly to the speed of the track and I have to try other claps. When the music enters, the clap and the hat are lost despite the sidechain
Solution: The original sample is mixed with the gated-reverb, which allows reverb to exist only in the sample's duration range or up to a certain limit given by the threshold of the gate. You can set the reverb to the maximum and it is extinguished along with the original sample. This allows the clap and hat to last longer and fits better to the bpms and sound louder without clipping. This solution is old but I did not know it and I've heard it in a lot of DeepHouse tracks.
Then you can record the sample from the timeline and simply delete it's schema and use your new sample (to save resources). Here I have not deleted the schemes to share with all my audiotool friends. n_n
To do:
1.- Try changing the Threshold, the gate, the attack and the release.
2.- Try changing the parameters of the Reverb that connects to the Gate.
PS: As much as I know Bach's work, I most admire this guy. ;-)
ve' never been a fan of classic meets pop or classic music at all. But this is kind of groovy ... and The Wendy Carlos album Switched on Bach was the first full electronic Album I ever heard and had. So some extra points for you ;)
I don't think it's a silly idea. I regularly sidechain my basses to help my kicks punch better in my mixes. Gating a bass to harmonize just seems like a different way of sidechaining.
I think some trap artists do this with their kicks. If they have a punchy top and a low 808 bass, they might gate the 808 bass to leave some headroom for the top end. If you're using audio clips, slicing the clips so that they overlap a tiny bit, and using a crossfader to fade between the two makes sense.
Cool! The idea of making a gated bass that synchronizes with the kick perfectly occurred to me. This idea has happened to me listening to a very well produced Trap track that I listened to on youtube. Or is it really silly what I'm saying?
Exactly Arcade. An example is "Prince - When Doves Cry" at

If you use the Machiniste to trigger your samples, you can also play with the "End" and "Env-Slope" knobs to shape their length and decay. Usually you can find a pair of values that make the sample "fit" better. Then you can add this post-process to make it perfect.
Indeed Jordi. On this track the Hit-hat is "trimmed" because it did not fit the bpm. How fantastic to be able to talk to other producers about these issues. Thank you very much for your comment
