thoughts a day later; i really gotta start being more deliberate with mic placement. the vocal sampler was too far away and i got too much of the room's gross mids and highs. same with the solo. voiceleading is alright but i should have done either more varied harmonies or changed the voicings for fresher sounds. kinda hard to blow over too. i really need to get away from my weird obsession with the lydian sound. same with ivm∆7 - I6. should seriously use more interesting bass movement too.
i think i could play a little more with stereo movement, especially with the background chords. i want there to be more of a disconnect between the serene harmonies and the chaos of the rhythm section. but as of now the harmony is lost in the mids (both eq and panoramically). re 2) ending distortion could be more gradual and i should lengthen the fade/reverb tail at the end to give me more leeway later. should figure out where this is coming from and where it's going to. to/from spacelessness?
i think i like the overall vibe of this to use it as an album transition, which means 1) i have to mix this a little better and 2) i have to make it more transitory. re 1) i don't like how sharp the snare and bass drum sound? no completely sure what to do about that but the compression might be too strong/have too short of an attack. bass tone is interesting but i wish it had more grittiness and resonance. not completely sure what to do in that regard. also annoying click at the end has to go
