A big part of ambient music, and basically the process of making it, is in the sound design of the synths you're using. Depending on what kind of mood or soundscape I'm going for, the synths I make/use will usually vary. For this particular track, I wanted to go for a more sporadic and melancholic soundscape. With this in mind, I used a mixture of smooth and airy pads with some rough/glitchy synths and textures in order to capture that glitchy vibe I was going for. I personally feel like I got what I was striving to go for with this track.
