  You'll want to compress your 808s and sidechain the drums so that the 808s duck whenever the drums hit. The drums will sound much better and also the 808s will sound more clear with the rhythm of the track. For example, bringing down the threshold and turning up the ratio will help. Also you can do this with anything, not just 808s. But I like to do it with sub basses because it sounds nicer.
