Another song I made from Soundtrap I wanted to upload on here! Not based on anything related to me, but instead, was inspired by characters.
Note: Fuck Soundtrap's poor-quality mics, my actual mic isn't compatible for my laptop and I spent hours trying to touch up my vocals the best I could. I'm done, I quit for now lmao
Update: I tried recording better vocals, still ain't perfect but they're definitely an upgrade :)
I do recommend headphones for a better listening experience though.
LYRICS:
Hard to ignore what’s built inside of me
From all the faint and distant memories
It’s been forever since you’ve said my name
And yet I’m still drawn to you all the same
Feel disgusted by the way you stay inside my mind
Getting harder to ignore these thoughts I can't defy
I know you’ve tried so hard to leave everything all behind
And I just don’t understand why I…
CHORUS
I’d lose my heart over you
Again and again and again
I can’t do this without you
I’ll chase after you till the end
Won’t let the darkness take you
Won’t let the monsters break you
I’ll risk it all just for you
I’ll be your hero, your soul I will defend
When I’m down and I’m about to lose
I close my eyes so I can picture you
You’re like the sun but I can’t look away
You shine so bright, but burn out all the same
Funny how despite the rift we find our paths align
No matter what we do the stars guide us to intertwine
I know you’ve tried so hard to leave everything all behind
Since I had better luck with my most recent rock track with mixing and such, I may redo this track- either republish it with better mixing or just completely redo it but use Audiotool drums for the instrumental instead (or a combination of AT and Soundtrap drums?) and then rerecord some vocals. Maybe...
I raised the volume of the instrumental by a few notches, I think it sounds better but I'm also curious if it sounds like it's drowning out the vocals now to anyone else.
Spent some time recording better vocals using Audacity for the first time, as well as adding effects and shit. I know these aren't top notch quality vocals still, but they are SO much better than what I had before!!!
I mean joVee's mastered the arts, so you can ask him, but if you're going for a rock sound, go for less distortion, if you want it to be heavier, go for the broken garbage disposal sound. People love that kinda stuff.
Also why are you using soundtrap? I get the instruments part but those mastering tools are impressively weak. I mean you did a very good job for what it's worth, ngl. Better than I could do fs.
DUDE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REMINDING ME AUDACITY EXISTS. I tried it this morning and it was so much better for my vocal quality, I'm planning to upload my redone vocals on here and republish the track. Made me so happy. 🔥
Cool. Just looked it up and based on what I saw from a quick search I may be able to get the bare minimum editions of Ableton or FL. I could definitely download Audacity too, thanks for the suggestions dude 👍
Audacity is great for recording vocal tracks. I personally recommend any DAW besides garageband and soundtrap, especially if you're looking to make heavier genres and stuff. Abelton is basically standard, but I use FL cuz of lifetime free updates.
I commend you for trying your hand at your own recorded vocals! It's tough to write songs let alone perform them the way you want them to sound. Keep this idea in the bank, and maybe one day when you have better mics or something, you can come back to it! Good effort. One thing I recently learned that can make vocals sound really cool is running them through a comb filter :o Keep up the hard work!
There's a comb filter on AT if you look its somewhere near the bottom of the effects. I'm not super good at the technical terminology but how i understand it works is basically it takes a signal and splits it into multiple bands, where you can adjust the "pitch" if you will of the signal going through each channel. You can get some cool metallic sounds amd some cool delay effects by setting the notes to a value like 1 or 0 on whichever note fits in your key signature.
