What Stagefright is saying here is that you could add delay to the FX, but you don't want the start of it (since it would clash with the dry signal)
take the sample, put it through a splitter (splits the signal in 2). One signal just goes back to the merger dry, but put the other on a delay that is set on 100% wet (that way you only get the delay). Set it relatively long and automate the gain to go up only after the dry signal finishes
