Tyler does a lot of his production from scratch, like playing his own chords and programming his own drums, so i'd recommend fooling around with the synths and using the machineste to craft your beats
Kanye's more sampling-based and i think the trick for replicating his style is to be super intentional with WHY you're using what samples you're using. fit them together like puzzle pieces. its like:
"what does this track need?" --> "what kind of sample will fulfill that need?"
