The 808 really accommodates your sound arrangement. However, I don't feel the notes corresponding in the right musical key of your snippet. Usually a tuned 808 harmonizes the kick, bass, chords and extra melodies. It would depend on the root note of the scale. For example, a minor or major.

I would take a normal equalizer, and shape the 808, and kick so they punch through nicely, and not harshly. It's very low-endy, in my opinion, you can take some of that away if you want. The melody is very eloquent, sometimes they don't hit much emotions, but for me it does, so that is a plus. What I'm not sure about, if your song is 'serious' or not. Nothing less, very good.
