Here's my take at the japanese citypop genre, maybe my favorite genre ever (go check Taeko Ohnuki, ANRI and Momoko Kikuchi on youtube !).
After finding those chords (inspired by Miki Matsubara's Stay With Me) on my piano and my bass, I've play them with a rhythm on Noraus's Mellow Keys cause it has this perfect DX7 tone wich is a synth used a lot in late City Pop. Same for the 80s slap bass by Kyba, it has the exact timbre.
After finding a melody played by 3 synths to make a bigger sound, i've wrote some lyrics that follows the prosody of said melody. I've used the recording tool for singing with my cheap voice (it's the hidden samples), after a de-essing, I've used a natural signal, a compressed one and one going into delay/reverb. Besides the recordings, the only samples used are the Audiotool Ressource Collective -

- ARK Drum Kit, after a tuning in E and B, snare and toms are going throught a gated reverb once and into a room send (emulating a room mic, reverb+comp+dist/exciter).
The finished signal is divided into a dry one and a heavily compressed one to give a hell of a lot of attacks and dynamics. Then, they go through a Quantum and an EQ for master.
I should really emulate the dust and pitch shifting of a vinyl ! Really great idea thx. But i can't figure out how to do it in AT without ruining the stereo :/
