Minor tweaks this time. simplifying some drum patterns by removing toms, leveling some sounds off a bit, and adjusting the LFO intensity on the ambient.
Wtf is this genre? I don't know how to define it.
Started with the chords. I was initially writing another song that used a different variation of them, and decided they could be repurposed for this. I'm not super familiar with the Space, but figured I could get some very pure tones from it which worked perfectly with a lead melody. Initially, the chords and melody were played on the same Space, so I split them apart. When I did that, I knew I wanted some very wide bass to compliment the relatively high voice of the lead, so I added Phat Bass. The Bass was pretty flat, but I knew it could be fixed with some drums. Ultimately, I didn't want to use the Machiniste. I've used it in quite of a few of my songs, and I felt going back to the 909 would hit me with some nostalgia.

I noticed that the kicks were way too soft in comparison to the rest of the drums. Despite the compressors, the ducking was a little underwhelming. I boosted the kicks, and adjusted the sidechain, switching to the Gravity. I've rarely used it, and thought it would make for better ducking. I adjusted some of the hihats in the fifth section; they didn't really fit between the chord stabs.
I added a reversed snare sample before some key snare hits, as I felt it would give a lot of quality to the negative space between notes. I adjusted the arpeggios just a tad to give them a little more oomph.
I replaced the gain automation with LFO modulation for the bass, and adjusted the filter cutoff as well. This helped make he bass a little more present.
Also, I cut off a bit from the end, and adjusted the melody.
I could imagine like an indie or post-rock version of this
