I think the gate makes everything stutter, it's like the stutter on the rassel block, but less of the actuall effect

Yeah compressors are very powerful. The second main use for them, aside from sidechinaing like in this template, is to make a patch louder without making it clip... it magic, but it works. lol I'm sure how to do that yet though.
