Space is good for metallic sounds. I make most of my drums with a Heisenberg, but I guess you can make one with a Curve, too.
Drums are essentially a fast transition from a high to a low frequency.

You can use a synthesizer to do it. There are alot of tracks on the site that you can pop open and see how they do it.

And if you want to just use the machiniste without presets just drag and drop samples from the sample library into it.
