Upload your own sfx and keep them private?

anonymous user · started 2021-06-26 20:47 · updated 2021-06-27 18:43

Hi, I have some sound effects that I'm used to using but I did not create them. However, all those sfxs are royalty free and I have the permission to use them commercially or not. Is there a way to upload a sample to audiotool but keep it private so that others cannot see or download it?

Yeah so I guess there is no way to keep my samples private?

when you upload a sample, there's an option to make it private. its just the sample might be deleted for copyright reasons

@tmthing2 ok thanks for clarifying; I might try that; are there any penalties if the samples I uploaded gets deleted?

probably, i know that people who've uploaded samples from looperman got restricted from uploading samples for a while.

Check if those samples have a license agreement attached to them. Usually those agreements forbid users from re-uploading or repackaging the samples in 3rd party platforms. This is the main problem with uploading samples to Audiotool, not the fact that they are royalty free or that can be used commercially.

Yeah so I am wondering if uploading them but keeping them private works.

A workaround would be using both audiotool AND an external software (not necessarily Ableton, but something more like Magix Vegas*); audiotool for the synths and the other software for the samples. This would save audiotool('s legal team) the trouble of dealing with the ensuing legal shenanigans of royalty free samples.
Or something like that.
.
Apologies in advance. I just wanted to give a little help, not to discredit this platform which is otherwise wonderful.
.
*Magic Vegas is actually a video editor, but it has the ability to work with BPM instead of frames per second. Again, apologies in advance.

Another workaround would be using @atrc 's vast collection of samples and presets.
