[[Attachment:0]]If you went back in okin's playlist to his (visible) beginnings on Audiotool in 2018, you wouldn't discover anything surprising: even back then, it seemed clear where he was heading. His opening track lost vale is an Ambient piece that tells a story full of melancholy and hope. You can see the images of the fictional film for which he created these enchanting harmonies. Until today, this uplifting, dreamy mood runs like a thread through his work. His - still other-worldly - melodies, in incomparable mature sound creations and beat constructions, skillfully span the arc between daydream and danceability and are thus much more than pure relaxation music.
Interview:
About https://www.audiotool.com/user/traptaco/
22, born and raised in the UK I come from a very small town where i've pretty much lived my entire life. My favorite genres are Future Bass, Lofi, Pop and many others.
Describe the style of music you produce
I started out making riddim/dubstep style music since I was listening to artists like Knife Party, Rekoil, Nero the list is too long but you get the idea, overtime that has changed and I am more open to the idea of trying new styles since i've never liked the idea of being boxed permanently into one genre. So I now make various genres anywhere between Ambient, Trap, Experimental, Soundtracks, Lo-Fi, if you want...go check them out.
What is your musical background and when did you start making music?
I actually started Audiotool in '2012' which is weird to think (yes i am old okay don't remind me) back then I had a group of friends that introduced me to the site and at the time we would mess around in the APP.
Obviously back then you couldn't actually invite people to drafts so we'd bunch up over one computer and mesh samples... the music was bad, I'll leave it at that.
However, they moved on from the site which left me sort of deciding if I wanted to stay or leave with them... I never saw myself getting anywhere with it because I was always anxious to show it off but decided to stick it out for the fun it brought me, I never had WiFi in some of my younger years so any moment I had the chance to get online I went straight on Audiotool. Four years later I created this account and the rest is history...
What is your favorite Audiotool device and why?
All of them, genuinely I cant think of one that I don't like.
What is your favourite trick in AT/What technique do you always use?
Usually, I start out most drafts with the melody or atmosphere of a track first, so I can get a grasp on where to take it. either Heisenberg or Pulv work then simply add different elements like percussions and effects to expand the track you got going... In short click things until it sounds good, works a charm
Have you ever had a writer's block? If so, how did you deal with it and what do you recommend to your colleagues?
Yes, multiple times. My only solution is usually to ride it out and then I get this burst of creative ideas all at once again, so I try and get down concepts and expand on them as soon as possible. However, some solutions I'd recommend taking a break, listen to different music, try timed challenges like make a track in 30 minutes (usually good ideas come from under time restraints) but yeah just don't stress and give it time.
What has helped you the most on Audiotool to improve and widen your musical horizon?
I've had the pleasure to meet many fantastic artists that have reached out and gave feedback throughout the years which reshaped how I approach and create music some of them include, Ollie, Vulkron, Tornsage, Naut and many more without most of these kind and supportive artists I don't even know where I’d be right now.
What do you like most about Audiotool? Is there anything you would like to suggest?
I like Audiotool because even as things change; it remains rooted to what I have always known it to be. A good medium accessible for everyone, simplistic to learn for beginners with zero music knowledge while also holding high quality resources for professionals to take their talents to the next level. The choice is entirely up to the creator which is why I love it.
Your message to the community:
Thank You, I just wanted to say that I am blessed to have met so many of you, it’s still surreal, I can't describe how much every single one of you have impacted me. I don't know everything when it comes to music but what I do know is the journey I’ve had I will cherish forever. Show respect to each other and be nice to those who are new <3
