Well, from what I know the slope is a filter with a knob with different types of passes or something. The slope can also change the frequency of an input. The compressor can be used to make stuff seem louder without actually making it louder by like adding decibels. The compressor can be used to sidechain things with it's sidechain input. The original input in the compressor will be slightly quieted whenever a signal from the sidechain is detected. You can fiddle around with the knobs to affect how much it can be quieted. So the compressor is usually used for drums and such to cut through the track and be able to hear it. BUT I AM NOT A PRO SO THIS MIGHT NOT BE 100% ACCURATE.
