Sometimes, when I copy a midi region, the copied region has a notch missing in the upper left corner and upon right clicking there is an option to "make real copy". If I try to edit the midi in this 'fake' copy of the midi region, the midi in the original region also changes. I don't know what triggers a copy to become 'fake' or 'real', but I would like to be able to turn off 'fake' copies so that I do not accidentally lose midi regions by editting a fake copy. I have on numerous occasions had to undo hundreds of edits to recover the original midi, while on other occasions I have lost it entirely. I think that having this functuonality turned off by default or even removing it altogether would help save confusion and frustration.
Cheers,

wait how do you copy them?
i do ctrl+drag for a real copy, and ctrl+shift+drag for a fake copy
I must accidentally press shift sometimes, thanks for answer :)
Wrong board.
@ewan_mcculloch Note that ctrl+drag on a region will create a virtual copy if the source region itself is a virtual copy. In essence, all region properties are copied exactly - the realness or virtualness of the region remains unchanged in the copy. This contrasts with the old Flash behavior in which the copy is a real copy regardless of type of the source region.
@andremichelle Would it be worth having the behavior of ctrl+drag be configurable in preferences?
