Not being able to sample

anonymous user · started 2018-10-30 00:00 · updated 2018-10-30 00:29

If Audiotool doesn't claim any type of ownership over our music. And is merely just a means to make it...why are ya'll so strict on sampling now? I could see if you guys had a lawsuit or something because it's really popping now.... or something. Or some super valid reason but all you really give us is nah. And fair use isn't even allowed. I thank you for the platform but this is fucked up man. I personally think you should let your creators handle their own court cases if it ever came to that.

P.s

f you guys had a record label I'd think that be cool but I feel like yall are too skewed toward edm genres. gonna need someone to show me otherwise on this.

Well, court cases are pretty serious and, as far as I know, AT has been close to find itself in that situation, so there's your reason. Fair use doesn't apply to a music platform where the purpose is to make new music. If it's done out of sampled copyrighted works, that's what copyright precisely defends against. And creators wouldn't be able to hold AT harmless because AT would be -hosting- the samples and thus letting users violate copyrights. Even if you obtained your samples legally, AT would be violating license agreements since sample publishers normally forbid redistribution or uploading of their licensed samples anywhere. I hope that this clarified your doubts.
