I tend to use a single tab for making all my music but occasionally it will say that I've got too many windows open. As far as I can tell the only way to close windows is to close the tab and reenter the studio. Is there any other way?

To close a project, choose Project > Close from the Studio's top bar menu or press Shift+W. If you have other projects open in the same tab, Studio will return to the last opened. If you close the last project, Studio will return to the New Project dialogue. I hope this is what you were asking.
