I dont know if this will be much help... but I was once told the key that my track was in was based off of the first note I started with for example, if I start with a middle C I base the entire track around middle C which also means that you track is in the key of middle C. Make sense? Sorry if this doesnt really help pretty sure theres someone out their that can explain this better.
