My Note tracks AND my Pattern tracks still won't stop playback of a machine/synth/whatever.
In other words, the Beatbox8 and the ToneMatrix just keep repeating and playing even when their note track is not active. The same is true for the pattern track alternative. I can tell it I want pattern 1 to play for 2 measures and then leave a blank gap of space for 2 measures and then start up again for a single measure.
Instead what I get is pattern 1 continually playing even when it is "off" or there is no pattern. The same is true of the not tracks. The loop plays even when a measure of the timeline is NOT filled with any notes.
THE ONLY SOLUTION, I have found is to make sure each machine/synth/whatever has a pattern completely devoid of any notes. Then, using ONLY pattern tracks, never using note tracks, I completely fill every measure with either a pattern that has something actively happening or with the reserved empty pattern....thus silence.
That is the ONLY way I can get the synths to actually turn off when I want them off, it's irritating. What this program needs is an editing space with a completely separate playback button from the as-exported or "preview" would sound with all the automation, pauses, and silences in place.
And before you ask, yes I have tried turning automation off and on, and lots of other tricks recommended here. It may simply bea the aces that flash based tools have to eventually die and until Audiotool is converted to HTML5 we may be witnessing the end of this great service.
If you draw your drum pattern in the note track you have to make shure that the pattern inthe device it self is blank. Otherwise it will play the pattern in the device,even when there isnt a miditrack at that place in the timeline.

right click, add pattern track. Whichever pattern you want to play, paint it in at the time you want it to be at on the timeline.
You can also right click and click add note tracks, and you can put the notes in for each drum where you want them
