So is this true?

I read on here that audiotool without the limiter being on and when the clipping comes up its not rlly clipping is that true or nonsense because i think it is possibly true.

So, as with a few DAW's the limiter on the output shows you (with the red light) at what point the audio begins to "clip".

however, this clipping is not always audible for a few more db. So it is possible to push the volume past that point.

this is how I understand it.

Do you know the number exactly on what i can push it past?

not for AT no, I do it by ear. If I hear clipping, I start adjusting levels within the mix etc.

As far as I can see, the clip lights of the limiter are accurate. I've monitored AT output's with Audacity's meters and both programs show exactly the same clipping. As Cal said, the clipping is usually mostly caused by loud spikes or transients, so you normally won't hear these. But if you push the signal to the point of constant clipping, you'll definitely hear some distortion.
