Hi, I'm very new when it comes to mastering stuff and using compression. I've heard the term OTT being thrown, what does it exactly mean and what is it mainly used for?

OTT is Over The Top multiband compression. The term comes from the name of a preset for the multiband compressor in Ableton Live.
Essentially it's a lot of upwards and downward compression being applied in an exaggerated fashion across three frequency bands and cannot be replicated in AT as there is no way to perform upwards compression. There are different presets on AT's multiband, with the same name, but they only apply downward compression.
