Transcribing Samples

There should be a feature where we can use samples for transcribing. They shouldn't be held on the sample database and won't be rendered at all. If it means re-"uploading", then so be it. Remixes would be much easier to make, and even if it's copyrighted, we wouldn't get banned for uploading samples.

Not a bad idea but since this is something you're trying to do asap, why not just look for a midi file for it? You could edit it as you see fit using any of the synths and it's the actual notes and arrangement. A really quality one would even have everything separated by instrument. It's kinda up in the air whether that infringes on copyright (most people say either maybe or yes with a question mark) but its not likely you or AT will take the heat.

The real issue is that remixes can still infringe on copyright. When you don't get permission, you're basically making a "bootleg" remix, meaning a fun little homage can still get shot out of the sky. You could technically run into the same problem you would simply sampling the track you're talking about. Just to let you know.

what do you mean by transcribing? loading them straight into the studio?

@two-sworded, I have tried to do that but it feels kinda cheaty. And making my own improv if I wanted to would be a real pain in the bass. And it never felt like it's had the remixer's own twist, more just taking project file and changing the instruments and effects.
