Timeline Selection/Draw

Apollo · started 2017-10-11 22:22 · updated 2017-10-12 17:21

When you use the Select Tool (1) to select automation/velocity points or notes, the Draw tool (2) should modify only those elements which were selected.

Well, this is two things now (I may have found another bug)

  1. Drawn automation/velocity points shouldn't exceed the timeline region it's contained in. I'm uncertain if this is intentional, but it might be something to be made a togglable option (demonstrated at 0:11 - 0:20 )
  2. To my initial point, (demonstrated at 0:47 - 0:55 ), the draw tool modifies points that are currently unselected.
  3. In addition, something strange happens at 0:47 , I can't really describe it and it's somewhat minor, but it may have to do with this. It looks as though two points take up the same time instance for a second, then the initial selected point becomes unselected... (You can set the playback speed to 0.5x to get a closer look for yourself)
    In any case, based on what you said about the functionality of the draw tool, I suppose what I'm asking for is:
    When the draw tool is used over existing velocity/automation points, it should modify their current values rather than creating new points altogether.
    This might make it easier to add implementation that modifies only the values of selected points. Opinionatively, this is a missing feature rather than a request since you can select on modify values on automation/velocity points already.

@andremichelle

  1. Fair enough, I said it might be beneficial to make it an option in certain circumstances because I do see how both functions could be useful
  2. Is this intentional? I don't think it should behave this way mainly because of the prior explanation
  3. I'll see about doing that though I think it's more of a bug rather than a feature request (as mentioned)
