Status Bar Additions

Currently, the status bar which has meta information such as the track title, rate, and RAM usage, could use additions that would make it more useful to artists. In particular:

Project Title

#* Single-clicking the title should open the project properties for simple editing
#* Double-clicking should allow you to edit the title itself without opening the properties (much like editing the device names in the timeline)

Project Rate

#* The project rate (currently limited to 41kHz) should allow for greater quality audio tracks. (And for use of samples corresponding to such a project rate)
On another note, along with these additions, the status bar might prove to be better placed at the top of the viewport. This is how it was in the Flash version of Audiotool, and would a helpful transition to Audiotool veterans. More importantly, its conventional placement that draws the eye of the user much better than placement that's on the bottom of the viewport.

I second this, especially the last suggestion about placement. Some time ago I suggested putting project name, etc at the top. But my idea was rejected because it involved merging it with the top bar (already containing app menus, transport and view icons) and it would make it too crowded. Maybe it would work by keeping the status bar and "top" bar separate.

"The top-bar in Next has no space left." I see quite a lot of space to the left and right of the transport strip. Definitely enough for a track title. Besides, the app's layout seems to be fixed (it doesn't resize horizontally with the browser window), so there would be no risk of elements collapsing on top of each other. You could argue that the current project name is conceptually part of the "status" the app is in, therefore it makes sense to keep it on the status bar at the bottom (even if I find the text too small). But if you wanted to make the project name clickable (to edit it or to call up the project's properties), then it would make sense to make it more prominent and move it to the top bar. Sometimes small changes and tweaks to a design go a long way and don't imply big re-designs of the whole thing.

Sorry, you are right. I don't know how it happened, but a while ago the app's layout didn't change with the window when I resized it horizontally. I thought then that you had changed the layout to fixed. Now it does change with the window's horizontal size and I agree, it would be very hard to fit anything else in there.
