sounds like you want better warping. as for changing pitch, sounds like you want a pitcher.

You can load a sample into the Machiniste and alter its pitch/speed. You can also use audio events inside audio regions to change playback speed with or without pitch change. For pitch change at original speed, you can use the pitch delay pedal.
little side note, if you do use the pitch delay, even on the lowest settings it creates a 1/16th delay so any sample you are using will have to be adjusted accordingly.
