forgot what it was called, but in my mixing class, there was a type of compressor we used which could compress different frequencies, it could limit the lower frequencies while letting higher ones through as an example, it would work the same way as a normal compressor, but compressing different frequency ranges by different amounts (which can be changed by the user of course), i think it would be a cool device to control the dynamics of a track after it's all been put together

huh, i thought thats what it was called ^_^, it would be nice to have for sure as a new device
It would be cool to have, but there is a BandSplitter in Next.
You can attach compressors to it, and you have almost the same thing. But the default compressor isn't really all that great.
You can read about the BandSplitter here: https://www.audiotool.com/board/what_s_new/new_device_bandsplitter
Okay, first off: you have a mixing class?! Where can I sign up for one of those? D;
And also, I guess the guys beat me to explaining this one, hooray for the board! c;
