Apologies if this is a duplicate, not active on here much anymore. However, perhaps I can provide some new ideas here.
Some background images on certain pages make it difficult to read the text above them. In addition, due to the image choice and/or quality of profile pictures, some profiles don't end up looking very good (e.g. @[https://www.audiotool.com/user/atelisis Atelisis], @[https://www.audiotool.com/user/inxile412 Syntax]). I'd propose adding an option in preferences to either
"Disable image backgrounds throughout the site" (use flat, single color or gradient backgrounds instead) or...
"Enable experimental image backgrounds throughout the site"
In the latter, preferred case, flat backgrounds are the default and users can opt in to experiment with the image backgrounds. This way, backgrounds can be tested and improved without hindering the overall user experience.
