Set BPM of sample browser to BPM of track

Leinholz · started 2019-04-15 18:39 · updated 2019-10-03 06:12

Pretty simple: When searching for loops in the sample browser the default BPM filter is set to 120 BPM.
I would expect it to be set to the speed of the current track automatically.

you can already do that

You can change what the BPM of the samples you want to look for, but I think he's asking for a feature to automatically look for samples in the same BPM as your track.

For example: If you had it set to 140, it would look for samples at or around 140, and if you changed it to 90, it would adjust to find samples at or around 90 BPM.

This of course would be overwritten if you manually typed in a BPM value.

thats lazy. how about we not waste the devs time on this

What shall happen to the field when using a tempo automation?

Set it to the default one. Usually i only use tempo automation to make things faster temporarily and not because i am making a new section of a song.

It gets annoying when you have to do it constantly. This is not laziness.

Isn't the job of a dev to write user friendly applications?

Either that what @kurpingspace2 said or pick the tempo of the position where the playback cursor is. Either would do the job I guess.

What happens during playback? Continuously auto-updating the field would be obvious nonsense. Only on Start/Stop?
Whenever you type in a value and play your track the field would be overwritten. That won't be intuitive.
I'd rather suggest a button to have a one-click option to copy the current rate into that field. Maybe on double click?

I would just set the sample browser bpm filter when the sample browser tab is selected. Non continuous.
But a "set to current bpm" button would also be fine.

It could pertain to where the player is currently in the track. If you have it in a section that is 120 bpm, where the rest of the track is 90, it could assume you're working on the 120 bpm section and set the filter to that tempo.
