I dunno if this has been brought up at some point already, but a desktop version with VST support and a deeper sample editor would be incredible. I love the interface and workflow of this site, but I have to export work into another DAW to use other softsynths, or to do serious recording of hardware instruments. In my eyes even a simple version without sample packs or presets could sell for $40-50 just on the merits of better performance, local storage, more integrated recording, and VST hosting.

Yeah but then it wouldn’t be a website and it wouldn’t be free and that removes a lot of the users and appeal of the thing
That would be separate, an additional version.

hey, for funding purposes, to my surprise, i'm not completely against this. it could be a hustle to develop more free stuff, and, of course, it is completely separate from the site and its community.
